January: Day 5 of the Municipal Leadership Academy at HR Green!

Pictured above: The MLA 25/26 cohort on Day 5 with ULI Colorado staff and volunteers at HR Green in Greenwood Village, CO.

The Municipal Leadership Academy had another successful session earlier this month at the HR Green office in Greenwood Village. Day 5 - UrbanPlan with ULI Colorado, was an immersive and interactive experience for our participants. They were split up into 3 groups to develop a fictional section of a fictional town. With the help of ULI volunteers and some Duplo's, the participants presented their development plans to a "city council" and one group was chosen as the winner of the day. The group also received a presentation from Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck on how local governments can work with developers. We are looking forward to Day 6 in February which will be sessions on Housing in Greeley, CO.

The Metro Mayors Caucus convened on Saturday, January 24th at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, CO for their annual retreat. The Caucus welcomed new mayors from across the Metro as well as returning members. The group participated in team building exercises, updated their policy principles, listened to presentations from partner organizations, held a small panel with state legislatures and heard from two gubernatorial candidates. Despite the cold temperatures outside, spirits remained high throughout the day as the group looks ahead to 2026. Thank you to CRL Associates for sponsoring the day, to Sewald Hanfling Public Affairs for sponsoring our social hour at 240 Union and to Red Rocks Community College for hosting us.

Next Full Caucus Meeting:
